Female Safety & Your Vehicle
By Sara Valor
Being a female, especially one that is traveling alone, you need to know how to stay safe in your vehicle. Vehicle safety is essential for any female traveling alone, whether during daylight as well as after nightfall. One of the first things you need to ensure is that your vehicle, whether you are driving cars or trucks is in good working or operating condition. Your tires should be good and not worn to the wires, your engine needs all the basics such as water, oil, brake fluid and transmission fluid to operate properly. If you are not able to attend to these issues, you need to find a reliable person that can and will check and fill these things for you. When you are driving a good working vehicle you have already conquered a great deal that may keep you from becoming stranded along side the road alone. Broken down vehicles alongside the road do nothing to contribute to female safety. Vehicle safety for women as well as any children who may be along for the ride includes, fastening your seat belt, locking the doors and in some instances even keeping the windows rolled up. Vehicle safety for women also includes being aware of your surroundings, regardless of where you may be. It also means that it is wise to always carry a map. If you do not know how to read a map, learn to do so. It is not that difficult. If you have a cell phone, these are great in times of an emergency; however, do make sure they are charged and ready for use, Before you begin your journey. Vehicle safety for women especially includes following your natural instincts. If something does not feel right about a stranger or a situation. Get away as soon and as safely as possible.

Good advice, Sara. It basically boils down to common sense, and exercising it under duress.
